Stephen Ministry is a one-to-one caring, confidential lay ministry where Christian men and women provide care to people experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, relocation, or separation due to military deployment.
Stephen Ministers come from all walks of life. What do they have in common? … A passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need.
To become a Stephen Minister, completion of the Stephen Series training (provided by BUMC Stephen Ministry leaders) is needed. Once the training is completed, the individual becomes a Stephen Ministry “Caregiver”. Caregivers are matched with “Care Receivers” through prayerful consideration by our SM leaders.
BUMC Stephen Ministers provide care for individuals in our Church Family but also serve BEYOND to hurting individuals in the Bedford area.
If you are interested in learning more about becoming a Stephen Minister –or- if you (or someone you know) is in need of a Stephen Ministry Caregiver, contact one of our Stephen Minister leaders: Bill Clites at 814-623-6081 or Jim Miller at 814-285-1116.
